Meditation | Travels

·1 min readLife

I have recently come to appreciate the profound impact and importance of meditation in my life. During my travels last week, I had the opportunity to experience a moment of serenity in a remote area on the West coast of India. While the picture I took manages to capture some of the beauty, the experience itself is difficult to put into words.

The soothing sounds of the waves, the sun’s warm rays slowly fading, the expansive horizon, and the majestic mountains of trees behind me – all contributed to a sense of peace and gratitude. With no cell phone reception and few people around, I found a small beachfront and sat down on a rock, feeling grateful for the moment and the place where I was at that time.

As Lama Surya Das of Tibetan Buddhism mentions of Meditation,

“With every breath, the old moment is lost; a new moment arrives. We exhale and we let go. It is lost to us. In doing so, we let go of the person we used to be. We inhale and breathe at the moment that is becoming. In doing so, we welcome the person we are becoming. We repeat the process. This is meditation. This is renewal. This is life”
