Privacy policy
This is the personal website of Ashish Krishnan at ashishkrishnan.com. It is a static site: there are no accounts, no forms, no comments, no analytics and no advertising. This page explains the little that does happen, and how the site's Instagram connection works.
What this site collects
Nothing personal. The site sets no cookies of its own and keeps no logs that identify you. The web server records ordinary access logs (IP address, requested page, browser type) for a short time to keep the site running; they are not shared or used for profiling.
Your dark/light theme choice is stored only in your own browser and never sent anywhere.
Third parties
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google's servers.
- X (Twitter): the "On X" section may load X's embedded timeline, which is served by X and subject to X's privacy policy.
- Links to GitHub, Instagram, LinkedIn and X take you to those services, which have their own policies.
- Cloudflare delivers this site. Like any such service it sees the IP address of every request and may set a security cookie of its own.
Photos and posts shown here are copied onto this site when it is built; viewing them does not contact Instagram or my photo server.
The sign-in
The lock in the header and the "lab" area are for me, the owner. Signing in happens on Cloudflare's pages, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. If you try it and are refused, nothing about you is stored by this site. If you are allowed in, Cloudflare sets a session cookie on this domain so the site can show you the lab; that is the only cookie the site relies on, and it is deleted when you sign out or the session expires.
The Instagram connection
To show my own recent Instagram posts, a Meta app registered to me reads my own Instagram account through the Instagram API. It reads only my public posts (image, caption, date and link). It cannot see, and does not store, any information about other Instagram users, followers or visitors to this site. Nothing is written back to Instagram.
The only data kept is a copy of those posts and images for display here, refreshed automatically. Photos on this site are reduced-size copies with all metadata removed; locations shown on the map are rounded to roughly ten kilometres. The access token that allows this is stored privately on my own server and is never exposed on the site.
Data deletion
Because the site holds no data about visitors, there is nothing to delete. If you nonetheless believe this site holds information about you, or you want any of the Instagram data described above removed, message me on LinkedIn or X and it will be removed within 30 days. Data obtained through the Instagram API is removed from this site and its server by deleting the copy and revoking the app's access.
Changes
This page is updated when something changes; the date is at the top. Questions: the same channels as above.
